Edge lighting for notifications: set a different light for each app
One colour for everything tells you nothing. When each app has its own edge light, you know what is waiting before you pick the phone up. This guide shows how to set a light for each app in Glint, and how to choose colours and styles you can tell apart at a glance.
Step by step
- Add the app. On the home screen, tap Add app. Glint shows the apps on your phone with their real icons. Pick one, for example WhatsApp.
- Pick an edge. Choose Left, Right, Top, Bottom or Camera. The phone preview shows the light in place. Apps on the same spot share it when both are lit.
- Pick a colour. Choose from eleven colours or any custom colour. Give each app a colour you can tell from the others.
- Pick a style. Choose Steady, Ripple, Heartbeat, Sweep, Blink or Fade. The selected style plays in the preview.
- Set the size and try it. Adjust Length and Thickness, then press Try it on this phone.

Choose colours you can tell apart
Pick colours that are far apart: green, blue, red and orange are easy to separate, while teal and green are not. Use white or graphite for apps you only half care about, and keep bright colours for the ones that matter.
Use styles to show how urgent it is
Steady is calm and fine for most apps. Ripple and Fade breathe slowly. Heartbeat and Blink pull your eye, so keep those for people and apps you do not want to miss. Free covers 2 light styles and Glint Pro unlocks all six.
Swipe a light to peek
Pull a light inward and a panel opens over the app you are using, with the messages for that app. You can reply from the panel when the app allows it, open the app, or swipe a message away to clear it.
Keep only the light
Android still shows a pop-up banner when a notification arrives. In the editor, Hide pop-ups opens Android's own settings for that app, so you can turn the banner off and keep just the light.
Tips
How many apps can I light up?
Free covers 3 apps. Glint Pro is ₹99, paid once, and covers every app you use.
The light turns off before I read the message
Set Turn light off after, for example 1 hour. The light goes out but the message stays in the peek panel until you clear it.
What Glint reads. Glint reads notifications only from the apps you add, to draw the light and fill the peek panel. It does not save notification text and does not send it anywhere. Privacy policy.
